Link Baiting is something on your web site that causes someone to link to you. But the quality of your content should be useful or entertaining enough so that people cannot resist linking to it.
“Link Baiting” may be considered as a black hat technique.However link baiting is just a link building with a trick: Rather than looking for links, you are getting the links to your site by putting articles in other popular sites.
So how does Link Baiting work?
Link Baiting is just like fishing. You publish a new page on a topic (I’ll cover those later) and set it free on the web. Hopefully others pick up on the content as fresh and interesting and link to it. The article is the bait, and the link is the catch.A properly created page can capture huge links on its own with little to no effort from you.
In order to bait a link, you need a hook. Most popular hooks are : -
• News hook : - News hook is a compilation of News,but it should not be a copy of someone else’s post rather should be unique (either genuine scoop or summary of other’s view points). A news hook could also be comprised of a story you have proved to be false.
• Contrary Hook : - if you are contrary to some one else’s saying then it comes under contrary hooks.
• Attack Hook : - Attack hooks are much similar to Contrary Hooks but one step ahead. These are much much ruder than contrary.sometimes you have to be so attacking to gain credibiliity and reputation overnight. But be carefull before attacking someone. Be ready with proofs.
• Resource Hook : - its like an informational page. A compilation of news stories on a theme. Do a little meaningfull analysis , and you’re good to go.
• Humour Hook : - you can post jokes,funny pictures or stories. You can also post “5 things you love about…” or “Cartoon channels are meant for …” etc. so that you can get reviews from others and hopefully a link.
