Child Guard Monitor Prevents Kidnap (233 views)

I thought today would be like every other work day--another day where I would spend up to 12 hours at the office. The only luxury I would allow myself was during my lunch hour when I would sit in the park and eat my sandwich and apple—then it was back to the office. On this particular day, the sun was shining and the park was full of people.

Every lunch day was similar to the others at the park. Watching the old men play chess, a few college students studying under the trees, and mothers bringing their children to the park to enjoy the sunshine and playground equipment.
Eating lunch and watching people was a great way to relax—even if only for a few minutes. But, today was going to be very different.
A group of about 8 mothers were gathered together and talking. They had a stack of books spread out on a picnic table and they were all completely absorbed in their conversation. None of the mothers at the table seemed to be paying any attention to their children playing on the nearby playground. And, this was an opportunity that one particular visitor to the park wanted to take advantage of that day.
Everything appeared normal as people moved around the park. Suddenly, one of the women at the picnic table jumped up and started yelling for her daughter. Tracy, Tracy, she was yelling as she was running toward the young child who was standing too close a stranger. The man moved away quickly and disappeared into the crowd as the young mother grabbed her child.

It all happened so fast. One minute the mother was busy socializing with the other women and then suddenly she was yelling and running after her daughter. How had she realized that there was a problem when she was not really paying attention to her daughter? In fact, none of the parents there that day seemed to be very interested in watching their children.
It was then that I realized that Tracy was wearing a necklace with one of the Child Guard monitors. I knew about these devices because my sister had one for her son.

The Child Guard monitor was a small plastic cartoon animal-shaped transmitter that sent a constant signal to the receiver which Tracy’s mother was wearing. As soon as Tracy moved too far away from her mother, the Child Guard receiver that the mother was wearing started to beep. The beeping instantly let her know that Tracy had wandered out of range.
Not only did this mother respond quickly because of the Child Guard Monitor, all of the children in this group were wearing one of the little cartoon animal-shaped transmitters. Thinking that these mothers were ignoring their children was wrong—in fact, they were more attuned to the needs of their children—especially when it came to their safety.
The Child Guard monitor saved this child from being taken out of the park that sunny day. Her family had the insight to plan ahead for any possibility of danger by using the Child Guard monitor to protect their child.
